The Clear Spring School is finishing a year of Arts Integration projects for their classroom teachers supported by the Arkansas Arts Council Arts in Education (AIE) grant. The grant awarded to support arts integration projects led by Dawn Ward, who was supported by the council as the school’s Artist-in-Residence in 2019-20. “The purpose of the grant is to help our teachers align our curriculum to art projects that reflect an understanding of the state’s art standards,” said Ward. “We met several times throughout the year to workshop different art techniques and materials that the teachers used to develop art integrated lesson plans for their classrooms. According to Jessica FitzPatrick, “the lessons have been collected and will be used as part of our Clear Spring School teacher training manual and we plan to continue work on are arts integration programming over the next few years.”
