What is Helping Heroes?

Helping Heroes is our new community outreach program for the 2025–26 school year, designed to weave civics, volunteerism, and real-world kindness into our students’ learning experiences. Each month, our students partner with individuals or organizations in the community who could use an extra set of hands; whether that’s yard clean-up, delivering cards to seniors, visiting care facilities, or today’s project: helping hang Christmas lights.
A key part of the program is inter-age collaboration: our older students work alongside and guide our younger ones, modeling leadership, communication, and responsibility. The younger students, in turn, learn what it means to contribute to something bigger than themselves.

Helping Heroes isn’t just about completing tasks, it’s about building the habit of service, understanding the needs of our neighbors, and learning that civics is lived in everyday actions. Students get to see firsthand how small acts of care strengthen a community and how their efforts have a meaningful, visible impact.
Our hope is that by the end of the year, students walk away not just with skills, but with a deeper awareness of empathy, connection, and their role as active community members. Today’s project is a perfect example: students contributing joy, working together, and brightening someone else’s season - literally and figuratively.
Individuals or organizations can nominate themselves or someone in need by calling The Clear Spring School office at 479-253-7888 or by submitting an application.
